Meet Hannah

Folk herbalist, mama, and creator of Kith & Kin Herbals.

Hi, I’m Hannah. I come from a multi-generational line of medicine workers and carry on the legacy as a folk community herbalist. My approach to herbalism is rooted in simplicity, locality, and tradition. I believe herbal medicine doesn’t need to be complicated, and that we don’t have to look much further than the plants growing around us to care for our families.

The phrase “kith and kin” is an old expression that means friends (kith) and family (kin). It’s a way of claiming your people and identifying with your community. In birthing Kith & Kin Herbals, I wanted to go even deeper by honoring the truth that we are all connected: to one another, to the plants, and to the land.

Folk herbalism is a living tradition, passed down from one generation to the next. In earlier times, every community had wise grandmothers, aunties, or neighbors who could be counted on for herbal support. Herbalism is the People’s medicine. It’s kitchen medicine, backyard medicine, and it’s born from relationship, ritual, and care.

Kith & Kin Herbals was created from this rich ancestral lineage, with the intention of staying close to home and serving our community with accessible, handcrafted herbal remedies. To me, herbalism is about connection. Connection to my body, to my lineage, to the plant relatives and the earth, and to every herbalist and wise woman who came before me.

I grow the majority of my own herbs, using them fresh whenever possible in my formulations. Any additional ingredients are sourced from trusted, certified organic companies that practice sustainable herbalism and share a deep respect for the land. On occasion, I responsibly wildcraft local regional plants that are prolific and not at risk.

Every remedy is handmade with care - pressed, bottled, and blended by my own hands. I cherish the ritual and slowness of traditional medicine making. The same herbal remedies I offer through Kith & Kin are the very ones I create and use for my own family.

I’m deeply honored by the trust you place in me, and even more so by the trust you place in the plants. If you’ve tried a remedy, I would truly love to hear from you. Whether it’s to share how it’s supported you, ask a question, or suggest a remedy you’d like to see in the future, you are always welcome to reach out via email.
